Movie Cereals
A FilmProphet.com Special
Movies... and cereals... there is a connection...
Let's take a trip on memory lane with cereal box covers... featuring movies!
The following were all real cereals at one time or another on the market at
grocery stores in a limited edition:
If you can see this, then your browser cannot display the cereals slideshow text.
After viewing all those cereal box pictures in that little slideshow, the
common thread is evident. They are either big name animated films or successful
popular movies with big budgets and box office performances... but now imagine
if Pulp Fiction, Anchorman, A Clockwork Orange, or Goodfellas had their own
cereals, that would be oddly cool... but the problem there is human movie
characters don't sell cereals, which is why all the cereal mascots are animals
or people covered entirely in costumes.
In a nutshell, cereals based on movies are mocks of real original cereals that
are shaped like something in the movie, set to cause hyperactivity in kids...
that's all the difference is besides the neat box cover.
For the Top 50 Cereals list, I excluded the movie cereals and most minor
variations of cereals, even likable ones like Strawberry Delights Mini-Wheats,
Chocolate Chex, and Frosted Cheerios and left it to the big name cereals of
regular and common versions that are available on the market. As I checked out
the most popular cereals during the long work in progress of composing this list
of 50, I noticed the majority if not all have cut out promotional toys inside
the cereal bags or proof-of-purchase forms to send in a couple UPCs from the
bottom box label for a free toy, with shipping and handling, through the mail.
Personally, my favorite cereal was Peanut Butter Toast Crunch, an alternative
form of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, but it's been discontinued… so R.I.P. with Berry
Burst Cheerios, Waffle Crisp, Fruit Brute, S'mores Grahams, and Ice Cream Cones
cereal.
After finding that out over a year prior to completion of this list, I began
creating a list of top cereals and asking others their favorites so this list
won't be biased and will satisfy all.
During this phase, every cereal in a big box form was purchased at countless
number of times, minus the discontinued ones, limited editions, and generic
store brands of course. They then were consumed with milk as it was a long
work in progress.

I was working hard one night with seven different cereals in one long sitting.
It took over a half of a year to organize the list after aggregating a list of
cold cereals. Evaluated by this connoisseur were flavor, nutritional value,
texture, mixture, and color as factors, as well as other people's earlier
likings from those who were asked. Cereals were re-purchased and tried again to
reevaluate certain ones. I even began experimenting and mixing cereals together
too. Sometimes I was eating 4-5 cereals at a time mixing the likes of Lucky
Charms and Cheerios, Trix and Froot Loops, Chex and Crispix, and Count Chocula
and Chocolate Lucky Charms for comparison studies.

My finished product of homemade Rice Krispie Treats with peanut butter.
Now onto the long awaited list...
